Farallon previously developed and implemented an Enterprise GIS for San Mateo County using Oracle Spatial as the backend and Intergraph Geomedia as its primary GIS software. Several County departments wanted to deploy the map production and geocoding tools available in ArcGIS. But they wanted it to seamlessly integrate with their existing Oracle Spatial Enterprise GIS and work in conjunction with Geomedia.
Farallon installed, configured and tested ArcSDE to ensure proper integration with the County’s existing Oracle Spatial geodatabase. Farallon worked closely with County staff to define users, roles and privileges within Oracle to support ArcSDE and geodata access via ESRI software. Farallon also supported the County in performance tuning of ArcSDE with Oracle database to achieve the high level of data access speed and geocoding capabilities required by the County.
During and following the implementation, Farallon provided training to select County staff to transfer critical technology knowledge. This included guidance on managing the ArcSDE server software, system monitoring, maintenance, ongoing performance tuning, administrative workflows, best practices and customized training to keep the geocoding services running optimally and maintained in the future. Farallon also provided County staff with useful tools such as scripts, tips, and common troubleshooting techniques to maximize the County’s ArcSDE management expertise.
